Disaster Recovery
Disaster Recovery was pulled to the forefront of the field of conservation 2005 with the devastation caused by hurricanes Katrina and Rita. The lack of an all encompassing disaster recover plan was acutely felt. Out of the rapid reaction of conservation volunteers came the National Heritage Responders (NHR), formerly the American Institute of Conservation’s Collections Emergency Response Team (AIC-CERT).
Floods, hurricanes, fire, and furnace puff back can reek havoc on any art collection. Speedy response is important to ensure minimum damage.
