Frame Conservation

We address structural and aesthetic considerations by repairing broken moldings, replacing lost ornamentation, and restoring the antique character of original finishes as closely as possible. Close attention is paid to old repairs and overpaint, often times revealing that the original finish and gilt can be exposed again.
Preservation Framing
A well-fitting, structurally sound frame combined with archival, non-reactive materials, and preservation mounting techniques will protect and help ensure the longevity of the artwork. For works of art on paper, conservation framing helps mitigate unnecessary damage and becomes an important preservation package to safeguard the artwork well into the future. The creation of a ‘micro-climate’ within a framing system can protect vulnerable art and artifacts from temperature fluctuations and harsh environment.
